Church Events


Acolytes

The young people assist at the altar during worship and carry the cross, torches and banners in the processions.  Youth in 3rd grade and older are welcome.



Altar Guild

Members of the Altar Guild are responsible for tending the altars for worship at St. Andrew's.  Training is provided for new members.

 


Choir

The Choir provides musical leadership at the 10 a.m. Eucharist and other Holy Days throughout the year.  Rehearsals are Thursdays at 7:30 p.m.




Coffee Hour Hosts

Parishioners provide the pastries (either homemade or store bought) served on Sunday mornings following the 8 a.m. and 10 a.m. services. These volunteers also assist with serving coffee. Early service helpers set up;  late service helpers clean up.

 


Eucharistic Ministers

These chalice bearers are licensed by the bishop to assist with the administration of the chalice during the Eucharist.  Training is required.

 



Flower Guild

Volunteers arrange the weekend altar flowers. If you would like to place flowers on the altars, please sign up on the calendar posted in the Narthex, the room at the church entrance.

 


Greeters

Greeters serve at Sunday services by greeting and welcoming visitors and newcomers.

 



Handbell Choir

This lively and eclectic choir plays handbells at special services and at other special events in the community. Practices are on Thursdays from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.

 


Lay Eucharistic Visitors (LEV)

LEVs bring Holy Communion to the homebound and sick every Sunday. A one-time, nine-hour class is required by the bishop who licenses LEVs for this ministry.

 



Lay Readers

Lay Readers read the lessons and lead the Prayers of the People at worship.

 




Newcomer Visitors

Newcomer Callers "mug" newcomers by making personal contact with them and delivering a St. Andrew's coffee mug and helpful information about the church.

 


Nursery Volunteers

Trained volunteers help our professional staff care for children aged three and under on Sunday mornings in the nursery.  These volunteers often help care for all-aged children at church events during the week when the need arises.

 


Offering Counters

These volunteers meet after church on Sunday mornings to count, record, and deposit the weekly offerings. 

 




Oblation Bearers

Oblation Bearers carry the bread and wine to the altar during the Offertory.  Families and children are welcome to participate.

 



Ushers

Ushers assist at the worship services by greeting people, passing out bulletins, taking up the offering, and guiding people to the Communion rail.

 



Vergers

Vergers are the masters of ceremony during worship and they help the clergy with the logistics before, during and after the service.
